Upstate NY: West Taghkanic Diner

West Taghkanic Diner
Route 82 @ Taconic Parkway, Ancram, NY 12502
(518) 851- 7117

The place we stop for lunch or dinner or just pie EVERY time we drive on the Taconic Parkway, on the way to/from Montreal or Lake George or anywhere else in the vicinity. About 2 1/2 hours from home. Just good old diner food. Plus it's right next to a gas station. Maybe some day we'll turn right and try the pizza place across the street, but probably not.

Liked: Pie, shakes, burgers

Visited:  a lot

Will definitely visit a lot more

In the Strip district. Cavernous place with sticky tables & giant bar. Empty when we went there for lunch on a weekday. Run of the mill seafood, huge portions. Really friendly service. We ordered clams on the 1/2 shell and they brought oysters. When we pointed out the mistake they brought the clams too, on the house.
